Product Description
BW2050 is a specially catalyzed sulfite applied to control oxygen corrosion in pre-boiler and internal boiler water systems. Its rate of reaction with dissolved oxygen is up to 500 times faster than commercial sulfites. Its formulation is compatible with standard boiler treatment products.
APPLICATION
BW2050 is easy to mix, feed and monitor to obtain effective and economic control of the chemical treatment program. It should be applied continuously to the storage section of the deaerator using a stainless steel injection nozzle or to a side stream from the feedwater pump discharge back to the feedwater holding tank. Storage containers, pumps and transfer lines should be of stainless steel, fiberglass, polyethylene or other chemically resistant materials of construction.
The application rate of BW2050 is dependent on feedwater quality and system operating conditions and must be established by your representative.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Color & Form: Off-white powder
Density: 86 lbs./cu. ft.
pH of 1% Solution: 9.7 + 0.1
Odor: Slight, sweet
DOSAGE & FEEDING
Feed 8 to 9 parts per million of BW2050 per ppm of oxygen to be removed. Feed 1.62 ppm BW2050 per ppm (S03) residual required. Maintain 30 to 60 ppm sulfite (S03) in the treated system. Use the lowest hardness water available to dissolve the product. Water temperature should be between 60° and 100°F. Solution strength can be made up to 0.8 pounds per gallon. Mix slowly only until dissolved. A floating lid on the mix tank is recommended to minimize reaction with air.
HANDLING & PRECAUTIONS
BW2050 and dilutions of it can cause eye and skin irritation. Avoid eye and skin contact. Normal protective clothing and polyethylene or rubber gloves should be worn when handling this product. A dust mask should be worn in the absence of adequate ventilation. In case of eye or skin contact, flush thoroughly with water. Obtain medical attention for eyes. Refer to the Material Safety Data sheet for additional safe handling information.
